Recycled Gift Wrap

24 Dec

Too much paper ends up in the landfill. Back in the old days our Grandparents would use whatever paper was available to wrap a gift, such as newspapers and paper bags. So why not bring back an old-time tradition, save yourself some money and help out mother earth.  For this particular package I used an old map. It is a fun and thoughtful way to wrap a gift in memories of places visited. If you use store-bought wrapping paper ask your family to carefully open the package so you can save the paper to re-use next year along with the ribbons!  You can also use  wrapping paper to line drawers,  or as book covers, or even shred the paper to fill packages that contain fragile items you plan to ship.

29 Nov

Here is a thrifty alternative to purchasing bubble wrap and packing peanuts. Fill the gift box with remnants of shredded paper from your paper shredder and If you have unusable pieces of wrapping paper run the scraps through  the paper shredder for some color! This will not only save you a trip to the store and money, but it will help the environment.
